We're Back in Wisconsin

We left North Dakota this morning for our last drive to get home. We just passed Eu Claire have about 4 1/2 hours left. We are going to miss Yellowstone and all it's beauty a lot. The pictures of Yellowstone are downloading now and will probably be up by tomorrow. Maybe we will take another road trip and start another blog, who knows? But in the mean time we suggest that if you get a chance to go to Yellowstone you should take it.

Yellowstone and Horseback Riding

We took two trips to Yellowstone, both were beautiful. Both days we were stuck in about a 2 hour traffic jam caused by a buffalo! The first traffic jam was because a single buffalo decided that it wanted to take a stroll on the road for a few hours. The second traffic jam was because about 3 buffalo were winding in and out of traffic and they also decided to come up right next to our car, and of course we did get a video of this. Then we also saw many amazing mountains and we all decided that the views never get old because they take your breath away in a different way every time you see them. The rest of animals that we saw were black bears, grizzly bear, moose, eagles, and a coyote. The second day we saw Old Faithful. It was beyond enchanting and didn't seem to last long enough, we could have looked at it forever. Then Alaina(Chris's daughter) and I (Zoe, Linda's daughter) went horseback riding. The views that we saw were all extremely gorgeous. We went through back trails in the woods, trotted through some flat land and went through a small river. Yellowstone was above and beyond our expectations.

When We Arrived

When we finally made it to our destination (cottage/cabin in the mountains) it was breathtaking. We were about an hour up in the mountains and the views were amazing. The night we got there we immediately felt at home, everything was very comfortable.

Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park

At the beginning of the day we went to Mount Rushmore and it started to rain, but we made the best of it and took a few pictures which I will post later. We also walked around inside and read about the history and the making of this famous landmark. It was an amazing sight. Then we decided to drive into Crazy Horse and looked at some artifacts from the Indians and watched a video on the making of it. This was quite interesting. We then drove through Custer State Park and saw a lot of animals, such as deer, pronghorn, buffalo, and burrows (donkeys) that walked right up to the car. The pictures will be up soon!

Random stop in an 1800's town

Badlands

Leaving the badlands now. It was a beautiful experience and we enjoyed it greatly. We saw a deer stuck up in the middle of one of the cliffs, and some buffalo from far away. It is an amazing place we suggest you try and make a trip to see the views here. Pictures will be up soon.

We are Here. Almost.

We have officially made it to South Dakota, but have no yet arrived at our actual destination (yellowstone). Tensions were higher by the end of the trip today, so the teenagers went swimming and the adults took a walk, and then we had a separate dinner apart from each other. Later we will be going to a Light Show that we will post pictures of. So far it's been a trip worth remembering.

Our Adventures so Far

Fun in Tomah

Lunch in Tomah

Had a nice lunch in Tomah. We are planning to go back the end of September for Cran Fest. The nerves are starting to get strained, because Chris (father of the family) is starting to drive like a maniac (swerving). We now have 245 miles to our next stop which is Sioux Falls, but we are probably going to have to take a break since we are all getting pretty annoyed with each other.

Tomah

We have officially started our journey. About 3 hours until we get to Tomah, we are going there to visit some relatives. There are not going to be any stops in between, so let's hope we don't get on each other's nerves too soon in this trip.
